A Diverse Supplier
1979 – 1982
ALL COMPANIES HAVE A GREAT SUCCESS STORY; ALLOW US TO PROUDLY SHARE OURS. ALL-FILL INC. IS A FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED THAT HAS THRIVED OVER THE COURSE OF THREE GENERATIONS OF EDGINTON’S.
Since the very beginning in 1969 some employees have come and gone, others are still employed to this day. The industry has changed and All-Fill was eager to adapt along the way. There were tough times, there were always great times. No matter the business, the key to success is hard work and determination. Never was this truer than the very beginning, the early years in which the first employees were laying the structural foundation and required work ethic for long term success and growth. At All-Fill, we have a great story to tell, enjoy following the history of our company throughout this blog series and we will get back to work so that we can continue writing future chapters
A stabilizing force in the packaging industry.
As the turn of the decade approached, All-Fill was a company of just about 40 full time employees and quickly developing a niche in the packaging industry for handling tricky filling applications.
All-Fill has become known for being a very close knit group. Family members, friends and internal employee referrals made of a vast majority of the companywide census at the time. The same still holds true today as the core group has remained intact. Because of the consistency and lack of turnover, All-Fill has been a stabilizing force that continues to be solidified. As custom machinery began to emerge in the marketplace, All-Fill’s diverse crew was ready to capitalize.
Working with rep groups in Central and South America.
All-Fill began a very nice relationship with a phenomenal team of manufacturers’ representatives in Central and South America around this time.
In order to infiltrate the Central and South American markets, All-Fill relies heavily on in market support and that is exactly what a rep group offers. Rep groups such as Abamex (Mexico), Reps Roma (Costa Rica) and Carlos Wanderley E Filhos (Brazil), did a very good job of promoting the All-Fill brand in their respected territories.
Dominating the OEM marketplace.
As mentioned earlier, custom machinery was everywhere, and custom packaging applications were abundant.
All-Fill capitalized on many different OEM relationships and the All-Fill auger filling head was seen all across trade shows, specifically Pack Expo Int’l, located in Chicago, Illinois every even year. “The objective was to consign auger fillers to anybody who would take them,” said Richard Edginton, founder and former President/CEO. “We wanted to dominate the OEM marketplace and over the course of time, OEM’s began to trust All-Fill as a reliable provider.”
OEM’s, meaning original machine manufacturers, were putting All-Fill Model B auger filling machines and model TA (twin auger) filling machines above the pouch machines and HFFS and VFFS bag making machines. The OEM relationships strengthened All-Fill’s reputation and end users of semi-automatic and automatic filling machines trusted All-Fill because they were the obvious choice of fill head supplier for many other manufacturers.
A vision of diversity.
All-Fill recognized the importance of being a diverse supplier.
Whether it was through OEM’s or through vast machines product offerings, the idea of diversity was at the forefront of Dick Edington’s vision. The beginning of something new and big was brewing. Dick just had to figure out exactly what it was…
